The CHS Library's OverDrive collection offers lots of new and popular titles as well as classic fiction. The OverDrive app can be downloaded to your phone or other mobile device, which allows you to browse, download, and listen or read to any available title. You can also listen or read from a browser on your computer, if you prefer.
To download books to your phone or mobile device:
First install the free OverDrive app (available from any major app store).
Create a personal Overdrive account with an email and password of your choosing, and then connect your app to the CHS library.
Once the app is installed and set up on your device, you can browse our collection of books.
Download a book to your device by clicking the black button that says "Download" or "Add to app." If you are asked to log in, use your CSD network log in (firstname.lastname and your CSD password)
Go to the "Bookshelf" in the app's menu to find and access your downloaded titles.
Select Colchester High School from the list of schools in the drop-down menu.
Click "Sign In" to be taken to a log in page. Use the same log in credentials you use for the school network (firstname.lastname and your password).
Browse or search for books. Ebooks are marked with a book icon; audiobooks have a headphones icon. If the icon is bold, the item is available for download. If the icon is gray, the item is already checked out; if you hover over the item you will see an option to "Place a hold."
To select a book, place your cover on the book's cover and click "Borrow."
Go to the Checkouts page of your account to find the titles you have borrowed.
To read or listen in your browser, click on the green button that says "Read" or "Listen" (in your browser). The title will immediately open in your browser.
